BENTON COUNTY (7-6) - The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to a roadway in Benton County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The purpose of this project is to widen 3.4 miles of Interstate 49 to six lanes and construct interchanges for I-49 / State Highway 72 and I-49 / State Highway 102 / U.S. Highway 62 in Bentonville.

Crossland Construction Company, Inc. of Columbus, KS was awarded the contract at $27,738,355.54.

Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in late 2018
